With an extensive track record in designing tailor made tools for offshore pile driving, TWD engineers are well equipped to respond to the various challenges of pile driving operations and develop optimal project-specific solutions, ranging from robust sub-sea templates to highly efficient monopile grippers.
A good example is the Monopile Gripper Frame which we designed for Van Oord’s Aeolus vessel. This Monopile gripper frame was so successful that our satisfied client Van Oord has mobilized a second gripper for their Pacific Osprey vessel.
Besides piling projects executed with jack-up barges, TWD develops solutions for efficient floating (mono-)pile installations. Combined with substantial experience in the design of motion compensated systems, the most effective solution for each piling challenge is developed in close cooperation with our clients.

Jumbo Offshore has installed 8 anchor piles for FPSO mooring in the Pierce Field (North Sea). To hammer these piles within the correct inclination and orientation tolerances, a subsea Pile Guiding Frame (PGF) was required. The PGF had to be lowered to the seabed with the cranes of the Jumbo Fairplayer. The piles’ mooring pad eye and chains required the PGF sleeve to be open on one side. After hammering, the PGF was retrieved.
In support of the foundation installations for Sandbank offshore wind farm by Bilfinger, TWD provided the detailed designs for a monopile gripper tool, hydro sound demper (HSD) deployment frame and upending hinge. In addition we designed various seafastening structures for the monopiles and transition pieces. All items were designed, fabricated, and ready for operation within 9 months.
